My Story

Are you ready for an honest “about” section with no BS? Let’s do this!

My introduction to SEO was purely a random stroke of luck. I had created a personal blog because I needed to learn how to use WordPress for my new internship. (I just hoped they would hire me before I ran out of money.)

SEO immediately clicked in my brain. With SEO I hear music, and see art. All the ins-and-outs make sense to me.

But after spending the next decade+ in the industry, I saw nothing but exploitative behavior from “SEO experts” and agencies.

My mission is to teach people SEO in a way they will understand and feel empowered. I want to take SEO out of the black box and make it accessible to even the most terrified of students. Teaching SEO is my calling.

Featured original research pieces

A major part of becoming a successful SEO is to constantly test your theories about how search engines work. When theories are proven correct (or just as importantly, incorrect), you can attempt to have your data synthesis and observations published for peer review.

Over the last decade I have been published on major publications for my original research, including Moz, Search Engine Journal and Brafton. These types of studies have helped me understand how Google works and shape my trainings.
